Mexican ice cream shop in St. Paul gets a new name to go with familiar creamy paletas

A Mexican ice cream shop on the west side of St. Paul is getting a major overhaul this week with a new name, additional owners, and plans for the future.Formerly La Michoacana Pink Ice Cream, the store on Cesar Chavez and Ada streets is being rebranded to Le Fresuchii Neveria. Andrea Cruz and her husband, John Babcock, recently joined the shop’s ownership group and are working to help the business set itself apart.The shop’s existing menu, which consists primarily of paletas — Mexican fruit-based popsicles — will stay familiar, Cruz said. The previous owner is still in charge of developing flavors and making the paletas, though now he might have more time to experiment. As for Cruz and Babcock, their major innovation is developing new molds to freeze paletas in unique shapes.The rebrand is the first priority, though, so we’ll have to wait a bit for creative popsicle designs and different flavors.The new name is a play on la fresa, Spanish for strawberry, and Cruz is hoping it’...City of Troy announces work-related road closures

TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The City of Troy's Department of Public Utilities announced that work involving water infrastructure on River Street started on Wednesday. The construction will leave River Street closed from Glen Avenue to Douw Street from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. for the next four business days. (NEWS10) -- A father and son, along with another New Jersey man, were convicted in a cocaine trafficking case in Schenectady on Wednesday, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ). Jeffrey Civitello Sr. (51, Schenectady), Jeffrey Civitello Jr. (23, Schenectady), and Richard Sinde (58, Fort Lee, New Jersey) each face at least 10 years and up to life in prison. According to the DOJ, as part of the conspiracy, another conspirator delivered three kilograms of cocaine to Civitello Sr. in Schenectady on March 29, 2021, with Sinde and the conspirator delivering an additional three kilograms two days later on March 31, 2021. UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. - One big piece of the St. Louis experience has officially returned. The loop trolley reopens for the 2023 season on Thursday. The loop trolley will operate on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October 29. People can grab rides along the Delmar Loop from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on days it's in service. The trolley runs from Delmar Boulevard and DeBaliviere Avenue, between the University City Library and the Missouri History Museum. Rides are offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Riverside County Sheriff's Office deputies shot and killed a person during a gunfight near Meadowbrook Wednesday night, officials said.In a release, sheriff's officials said a few minutes after 7 p.m., deputies spotted a person matching the description of a wanted felon leaving a residence at which the deputies were serving a warrant.Deputies tried to pull over the person, but they failed to stop, prompting a pursuit that ended when the suspect lost control of their vehicle at Meadowbrook Avenue and Peach Street, according to the RCSO.After the crash, the person came out of their vehicle and opened fire, prompting return fire from the deputies, officials said.The person, who has not been identified, was struck at least one time, though officials have not said how many deputies opened fire or how many rounds were shot.Despite medical aid, the suspect was declared dead.
