1 dead, 2 injured in Aurora crash Sunday night

DENVER (KDVR) — The Aurora Police Department said one person died and two others were taken to a hospital with injuries after a crash Sunday night.It happened just after 9 p.m. near East Pinewood Drive and South Wheatlands Parkway in southeast Aurora. The intersection was closed as of 10 p.m. 48 syringes, $6,300 worth of stolen bicycles found at Fort Collins homeless camp According to APD, a Mazada SUV was driving northbound on South Wheatlands Parkway at a high rate of speed when the driver struck the median and rolled several times before coming to rest on the sidewalk.Aurora police said two adult male passengers and an adult male driver were inside the car. An 18-year-old passenger was ejected and died on scene. An Islamorada woman was arrested after a traffic stop led to the discovery of multiple drugs and a child in an SUV. According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, 4-year-old Shanna Kay Ferguson had her one-year-old child in her vehicle when she was stopped near Mile Marker 50 at around 12:36 a.m., Monday. Ferguson was initially stopped after deputies observed her silver SUV swerving into other lanes of traffic and onto a sidewalk, narrowly avoiding a sign.Suspected illegal narcotics were in plain view in the vehicle. (CNN) — The former US ambassador to Bolivia has been charged in federal court with acting as a secret foreign agent of Cuba, according to court documents unsealed Monday.Manuel Rocha, the 73-year-old former American diplomat, “secretly supported the Republic of Cuba and its clandestine intelligence-gathering mission against the United States by serving as a covert agent of Cuba’s intelligence services,” prosecutors wrote.Rocha served as the US ambassador to Bolivia from 2000 to 2002 and the Deputy Principal Officer of the US Interests Section in Cuba in the 1990s. MEXICO CITY (AP) — The bodies of five young men were found stuffed in a vehicle on a dirt road in north-central Mexico, authorities said. Diego Sinhue Rodríguez, the governor of the state of Guanajuato, pledged an “exhaustive” investigation into the killings. The car and the bodies were found Sunday in a rural area on the outskirts of the city of Celaya, which has seen a spate of drug cartel violence in recent years.
