MARTINEZ — A Bay Area charged with murder has been sentenced to 16 years in prison as part of a plea deal with Contra Costa prosecutors, court records show.Guadalupe Robles, 29, pleaded no contest to manslaughter in the death of 25-year-old Shafi Qasimi, in exchange for prosecutors dropping the murder charge. He was formally sentenced April 13 and transferred to North Kern State Prison two weeks later, court records show.Robles was arrested last year in connection with the May 8, 2022 killing of Qasimi, whose body was dumped off Grizzly Peak Boulevard in the Berkeley Hills after he was fatally shot in Concord.Qasimi and Robles were both living in an encampment with others off Willow Pass Road in Concord. Authorities said at the time that Robles and others at the encampment blamed Qasimi for fighting with another person and spraying him with bear mace earlier in the day. (KRON) -- Police were able to associate a white car seen fleeing the scene of a weekend homicide in El Cerrito last month with a suspect and make an arrest, the El Cerrito Police Department said. Eighteen-year-old Sincere Martin was fatally shot on Sunday, April 23, shortly after 4:30 p.m. on the 900 block of Galvin Drive. Attorney apologizes after calling Bob Lee ‘the Walgreens of recreational drugs’ The shooter was seen fleeing west on Stockton Avenue from Galvin Drive in a white car. The car was later identified as a 4-door white Toyota. Police connected the car to a 21-year-old Oakland man, Malachi Cox.Cox was arrested in Citrus Heights on May 3 by El Cerrito PD. The Oakland Police Department Cease Fire Unit, the Oakland PD Intelligence Unit, and the U.S. Marshal Service helped locate Cox, police said. (KTXL) — Davis Police announced Thursday the arrest of a suspect in connection with three recent stabbings that led to the mobilization of multiple law enforcement agencies as officials searched for the person responsible. Police Chief Darren Pytel said in a news conference that Carlos Dominguez, 21, had been arrested in connection to all three stabbings, adding "We have evidence that shows that one person is responsible." SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A 15-year-old boy was shot to death on Eddy Street in San Francisco Thursday evening, police said. No arrests have been made. The shooting broke out at 7:19 p.m. "Officers arrived on scene and located the victim, a 15-year-old male, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Officers rendered aid and summoned medics to the scene. Despite efforts by first responders and medical personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased," the San Francisco Police Department wrote. (KRON) -- For Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Yelp released a list this week of the top 50 Asian-owned bakeries in the United States and Canada. A Maryland man says he watched his friend die in Prince George’s County five years ago. Now, he is filing a $15 million lawsuit against the Oxygen channel over its true crime documentary about the 2018 killing.In the lawsuit, filed May 1 in U.S. District Court in Maryland, Thomas Logan alleges the network falsely suggested he is to blame for his friend’s killing.Lamont Adair was a new father and a pro-basketball prospect when he was shot and killed Aug. 8, 2018.
