While the antibiotics would treat the symptoms for a short period of time her patients would eventually return with the same ailments. The medicines she was prescribing weren’t treating the reason why her patients got sick in the first place. Read more Letters to the Editor. Is Delta destined fordeath, tunnel or not?Your recent op-ed “Delta tunnel is too risky to bend environmental rules” (Page A6, June 21) articulates views of many dedicated individuals and organizations who have worked to “Save the Delta.” They deserve praise, much like those who bravely banded together to “Save the Bay” in an earlier era.On my computer monitor is the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration’s “Sea Level Rise Viewer.” It shows what will be happening to the Delta in the next several decades. The picture that emerges is that, with or without the tunnel, it will become a progressively brackish sea with a profoundly changed ecology.Up in the Sierras our heritage forests, stressed by drought, heat waves, bark beetles and fires, are undergoing massive change due to climate change. Much of this is already baked in and we’re hearing about “zombie” forests. One wonders if the Delta warrant...
