Burbank police rescue runaway horse Police in Burbank respond to a lot of strange calls, but this one will be hard to top.Around midnight Monday, dispatchers received a report of a loose horse running "frantically" down the street in the area of Riverside Drive and Mariposa Street. The horse still had a saddle, leading the caller to believe the rider may have fallen off, police said.Officers responded and found the horse grazing on the front lawn of a home. Father of 3 killed in Northridge shooting while earning money for daughter’s birthday cake A family remains devastated after a beloved father of three was killed in a Northridge strip mall shooting.On April 15, 38-year-old Juan Lopez was hired as a painter to cover up gang graffiti on the exterior wall of Northridge Ice Cream.While Juan was painting, a gunman drove up, stepped out while holding an “Uzi” type semi-automatic handgun and opened fire, striking Juan multiple times in the chest, said LAPD. Three other men who were standing nearby were also shot, police said.Juan was pronounced dead at the scene. (KRON) -- It’s been two days since a 10-year-old girl was found stabbed to death at a gruesome crime scene inside her East Oakland home. Police believe the little girl’s mother was the killer.The young homicide victim was identified by her father Wednesday as Sophia Lorenzo.The mourning father, Federico Lorenzo, repeatedly broke down in tears while talking to KRON4. Sophia was a playful and social girl, he said. Woman suffers life-threatening injuries after crash in SF's Marina District (KRON) -- A woman is seriously injured after being hit by a vehicle Wednesday afternoon in the Marina District, the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) confirmed to KRON4. The crash happened around 4:36 p.m. at the intersection of Laguna and Francisco streets. Another small San Francisco business shutters SFPD officers arrived at the scene and found the unidentified woman laying on the street unconscious, according to police. Driver was on cell phone when fatally striking man walking his dog in Napa, police say (KRON) -- A driver who struck and killed a man in Napa in 2022 was using his cell phone when the crash happened, the Napa Police Department said on Wednesday. The suspect, 53-year-old Peter Orrfelt, was charged by the Napa County District Attorney's Office with felony vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. The crash happened at 6:48 p.m. on May 19, 2022, at the intersection of Jefferson Street and Oak Street. Raul Gudino, 78, was killed. 2 killed by wrong-way driver on Highway 1 NPD said Gudino was walking his dog at Fuller Park when the crash happened. Orrfelt was driving a pickup truck northbound on Jefferson Street. Orrfelt remained at the scene and cooperated with police after the crash. Gudino died at a hospital. "Distracted driving by using a cellular device was determined to be a factor in this collision," NPD said.
