SAN FRANCISCO — By now, you should know not to count out these San Francisco Giants until the 27th and final out. Because, look, they did it again.Silenced for six innings Monday night by longtime nemesis Michael Wacha, trailing the Padres by two runs entering the ninth inning, the Giants manufactured yet another come-from-behind win, extending their season-best winning streak to eight games, walking off their division rivals in improbable fashion.Mike Yastrzemski, who homered once already in the sixth and scored the tying run in the bottom of the ninth, launched a walk-off splash hit in the bottom of the 10th to beat the Padres, 7-4. Yastrzemski, less than a week removed from another game-winning home run in St. Louis, emphatically dropped his bat and watch the ball sail into McCovey Cove — the counter in right field now reads 102 — before being mobbed by his teammates at home plate.“That was probably the first time I’ve actually enjoyed it a little bit,” Yastrzem...High level of bacteria found in Stinson Beach water

(KRON) – People enjoyed their long holiday weekend at Stinson Beach without knowing that bacteria testing in the water does not meet state standards right now for swimming.Marin County Environmental Health Services put out an alert online that there are elevated bacteria levels in parts of Stinson Beach. KRON4 looked all around and didn't see a single sign alerting people there, and that upset some beachgoers."It's really shocking. You would think they would have a sign at least somewhere,” said Bay Area resident Bianca Chavez. Group of bicyclists rides onto 580 freeway, prompting CHP warning In a tweet last Thursday, the Golden Gate National Recreation Area said the water at Stinson Beach Central does not meet state standards for water contact recreation. The tweet also provided a number for the Marin Beach Hotline, but calling the number did not give a lot of information.Beachgoers that KRON4 spoke with on Juneteenth say they didn’t see that alert and think more could have been...Witness describes Oakland hit-and-run crash

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — A 5-inch scrape on his left arm to show for his spectacular performance, Mike Yastrzemski took as much pride in his headfirst slide for the tying run as he did that dramatic splash-hit homer to end the game in the 10th inning.Yastrzemski sent a three-run shot into McCovey Cove to win it, and the San Francisco Giants rallied past the San Diego Padres 7-4 on Monday night for their season-best eighth straight victory.Yastrzemski also connected in the sixth, giving him five career multi-homer games and two against San Diego. It was his fourth walk-off homer in the majors and second versus the Padres. Patrick Bailey hit a tying sacrifice fly in a two-run ninth to knock in Yastrzemski, who tagged up and raced home to score with a headfirst dive into the plate.“That was probably more exhilarating,” Yastrzemski said. “That was one of those plays where it could have ended up dropping in front. I just kind of hang out there for a second and make the right read and luckily...Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba announces new CEO and chairman in major management reshuffle

BENGALURU, India (AP) — Glaciers are melting at unprecedented rates across the Hindu Kush Himalayan mountain ranges and could lose up to 80% of their volume this century if greenhouse gas emissions aren’t sharply reduced, according to a report. The report Tuesday from Kathmandu-based International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development warned that flash floods and avalanches would grow more likely in coming years, and that the availability of fresh water would be affected for nearly 2 billion people who live downstream of 12 rivers that originate in the mountains.Ice and snow in the Hindu Kush Himalayan ranges is an important source of water for those rivers, which flow through 16 countries in Asia and provide fresh water to 240 million people in the mountains and another 1.65 billion downstream.“The people living in these mountains who have contributed next to nothing to global warming are at high risk due to climate change,” said Amina Maharjan, a migration specialist and...Latest news
