Why do we — the Concord community; the business communities; our BART ridership; Highway 242, I-680 and Highway 4 commuters; families with children in school; environmental organizations; those needing affordable housing; water and electricity users — care?We care about the $14.06 million that is a city loan without specific accountability on how it was spent on the project and how it will be repaid. We care because decisions were made without the Concord City Council following their own procedures to gain detailed information for each developer, and their financial capability. We don’t want a third time like this. CNWS is such an important opportunity that we must get this right for all of us....Single family residence sells for $2 million in Los Gatos

The COVID mandate said that school districts “provid[e] some sort of digital learning device” to facilitate remote learning. What was the measurable educational result? Per the Public Policy Institute of California headlines, “Pandemic disruptions reversed nearly six years of academic progress.”Early on it was clear that COVID was a serious risk for the aged — children much less so. With 5.8 million school-aged kids, the California Department of Public Health reports 1,582,829 COVID cases and 63 deaths, so there are tw...60-acre fire threatening structures in South Bay

GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) — Russell Henley still thinks about a poor finish from two years ago at the Wyndham Championship. He had no complaints about his start Thursday, an 8-under 62 that gave him the lead in the final tournament before the PGA Tour’s postseason.Henley hit his approach to 6 feet for eagle on the par-5 15th on his way to a 30 on the back nine at rain-softened Sedgefield Country Club. He led by one over Adam Svensson and Byeong Hun An, who birdied his last two holes.Henley is at No. 34 in the FedEx Cup standings, while Svensson is No 37 and An No. 52. They are assured a place in the postseason, which is for the top 70.
