Coping without power for a third straight day UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. – Thousands of people were without power for the third day in a row, including in one of the harder hit areas, University City.“Obviously, we can’t cook, and we had to bring our fridge stuff to a friend’s house," Kristin Kascsak said.Her family lost power Saturday afternoon, forcing them to find unique ways to stay cool.“I went to three Walmarts to find a battery-powered fan," she said.She and her husband, Thes, are charging electronics at work, school, friend's houses; anywhere that has power. Video of deputy slamming woman to ground in Lancaster released by L.A. County Sheriff's Department Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department released body-worn camera footage of a disturbing use of force incident in Lancaster that, according to a late Monday night announcement by the department, is currently under investigation.  The confrontation happened on June 24 when deputies from the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station responded to the parking lot of a WinCo Foods store, located at 740 W. Ave. K 4, on reports of an “in-progress robbery.”  “Upon arrival, deputies approached a man and a woman matching the description given by store security personnel in calls placed to 911,” a LASD news release stated. “As deputies attempted to detain the individuals described by store security personnel, the encounter escalated into a use of force incident.”Officials also said that an eyewitness captured cellphone footage of the incident that the department news release referred to as "disturbing" video. Search underway for hit-and-run driver that killed man setting off fireworks in L.A.  Police are searching for the driver of an SUV that hit and killed a 36-year-old man igniting fireworks in the street in Wilmington Monday night and then fled the scene.  Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department responded to the scene, located at 710 N. Fries Avenue, near a Food 4 Less grocery store, at around 9:10 p.m. on reports of a vehicle hitting a pedestrian, police told KTLA.   The victim, identified by friends at Juan Aeryan, was lighting fireworks in the street when he was struck by an SUV drive described only as a female Hispanic, police confirmed.  Authorities said the force of the impact threw the 36-year-old several hundred feet where he came to a stop partially underneath another vehicle leaving the shopping center parking lot.
